Loïc De Weerdt was a post-doctoral researcher at the BSPL lab, where he worked on the Rapid Switch Project to help accelerate global transitions to low-carbon energy systems. His research focuses on the shift toward a carbon-neutral circular economy, techno-economic assessments of green microgrids, decision-making under uncertainty, and sustainable waste and resource management.

Before coming to Princeton, Loïc conducted policy-focused research on plastics in a circular economy at the University of Antwerp, where he also contributed to the Flemish Circular Economy Policy Support Centre and lectured at the Catholic University of Leuven. He holds a PhD in Business and Economics from the University of Antwerp, as well as degrees in economic policy and law.

Now, Loïc De Weerdt works as an economist at the World Bank in Washington DC.
