Lab Philosophy
The BSPL mission is to put Weber’s previous research insights about the full range of human motivation and human decisions processes into a broader context, looking at decision makers who are imbedded in social networks and their physical and social environment, who receive information and cues from those sources as well as feedback from the effect their decisions have on their environment.
We value diversity for the sake of it. Besides, it doesn’t compromise excellency.
Core Values
Empowerment
Being a member of this lab is intended to be an empowering experience. It is designed to help you make connections between lab-related research topics, topics you care about, and your professional goals.
Mutual Respect
In the BSPL, we strive to treat each other with mutual respect. This includes being thoughtful and sensitive to others’ perspectives and experiences. Therefore, when it comes to discussions, it is always encouraged to actively perspective take and ask oneself “how might others feel if I make this comment?”.
Equity & Inclusion
To aid in this endeavor we ask that you be thoughtful about your contribution in lab meetings and take a “step forward, step back” approach to participation: if you have not spoken up in some time, step forward and participate, and if you have already participated and others have not, step back to help make room for others to participate.
