We have a new post-doc joining the BSPL: Emma Korein!

Emma has joined us a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Princeton University’s Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment. 

She will work with an interdisciplinary team to develop and evaluate a framework for building trust among communities, stakeholders, and practitioners involved in infrastructure development. Using interdisciplinary research methods, Emma will evaluate these trust frameworks through case studies of communities engaged in data center and critical minerals mining development. 

Her research objective is to understand whether and how this "infrastructure of trust" can be integrated into local projects to promote development that is sustainable, efficient, equitable, and fair. Emma earned her Ph.D. in Marine Policy from the University of Delaware, where her research explored community perceptions of offshore wind energy development and the implementation of energy justice principles within ocean governance and decision-making. She also holds a Master's degree in Biodiversity and Conservation from the University of Exeter and a Bachelor's degree from Bates College, where she double majored in Psychology and French with a minor in Education. Drawing on her interdisciplinary background in the social and environmental sciences, Emma is passionate about conducting community-engaged research that informs the sustainable, equitable, and just governance of socio-environmental systems.
