Jordana Composto, a graduate student in psychology and social policy, has been awarded the prestigious Maeder Graduate Fellowship in Energy and the Environment for the 2024–2025 academic year. This fellowship recognizes graduate students who show exceptional promise in developing innovative solutions for a sustainable energy and environmental future and covers tuition and stipend support.
Composto’s research focuses on how individuals and organizations respond to climate change, particularly exploring the role of social norms—collectively endorsed rules that guide behavior—in shaping sustainable actions within organizations. For example, she has found that employees are more likely to engage in sustainable behaviors when they perceive company support for those actions, independent of their personal attitudes.
