Congratulations to Dr. Sandra Geiger on Her New Publication in Global Environmental Change!

We are thrilled to celebrate our postdoctoral researcher Dr. Sandra J. Geiger on the publication of her new open-access article, “Understanding the role of pluralistic ignorance in biodiversity conservation: A research agenda,” in Global Environmental Change.

In this Perspective piece, Dr. Geiger and colleagues outline how pluralistic ignorance—collective misperceptions about others’ beliefs—can impede both individual and systemic action needed to address global biodiversity loss. The paper highlights the surprising gap in research applying pluralistic ignorance to biodiversity challenges and proposes a forward-looking agenda to advance this work. Their framework encourages scholars to better understand the different forms, consequences, and drivers of pluralistic ignorance, while expanding the set of interventions that could help correct these misperceptions and support more effective conservation efforts.

This publication represents an exciting contribution at the intersection of social psychology, environmental behavior, and policy, and we’re proud to see Sandra’s expertise shaping the research landscape on biodiversity and collective action.

Congratulations, Sandra!
