BSPL team goes to Worley's 2025 Industry Leadership Forum in Brisbane, Australia!

Collaborator Chris Greig, Visting Student Nienke Buters, and Lab Manager Sofia Silvosa attended this year's 2025 Industry Leadership Forum hosted in Brisbane, Australia this past November. The 2025 Industry Leadership Forum brings together leaders for two high-impact days of insight, connection and collaboration — all focused on redefining how we deliver in a world of increasing complexity and accelerating change. Across keynotes, rapid-fire presentations and expert panels, delegates will explore how bold thinking, trust, and cross-sector collaboration can unlock smarter, faster and more certain outcomes. Presenters were challenged to share what’s truly new in their approach, how trust is shaping delivery models, and how forces like AI, geopolitics, capital constraints and global competition are reshaping the path to net zero and beyond.

Professor Chris Greig led a workshop titled “The Future of Australia’s Resource Industries – Finding Strategic Direction Within the Clouds of Transition Uncertainty" with the help of both Nienke Buters and Sofia Silvosa. The workshop centred on a planning exercise to explore potential scenarios for how the role of Australia’s natural resources and associated industries might evolve in the global economy over the next half century, as an example of finding strategic direction within the clouds of significant transition uncertainty. The workshop tasked participants to develop four scenarios, helping them make sense of highly uncertain potential futures, and to position businesses to be resilient to such future uncertainties.
